Onsite Childcare Availability

We are currently in the planning stages of our child care initiative which will provide on site childcare at one of the designated conference hotels. If you think you will require childcare services at SMPC 2026, please fill out this Assessing Childcare Needs Form with your specific needs (number of children, ages, days of conference) by July 1, 2026.

Free Virtual Registration Eligibility

This year, SMPC is launching a pilot program to support virtual participation for individuals who face financial, health-related, or other barriers that make attending the upcoming conference in Chicago difficult or impossible. Eligibility includes members who are from the Global South/low- or middle-income countries, those who hold unwaged or partially waged research positions, including students, postdoctoral researchers or adjunct faculty, or those who belong to marginalized groups that face barriers to participation in academic and scholarly communities. If you are unsure of your eligibility, we encourage you to apply anyway!

Through this virtual attendance pilot program, selected participants will receive a fee waiver for virtual registration, including access to streamed talks and sessions, as well as participation in virtual poster sessions via GatherTown. Eligible applicants are invited to complete this Virtual Attendance Pilot Program Form by July 1, 2026.

As this is a participation-focused initiative, recipients of the virtual attendance pilot program are expected to actively attend and engage in the virtual conference activities if selected.
